Bucks To Buck Cancer
The Goal is ONE MILLION dollars in 25 years! We are only $300,000 away from our goal. This year we are looking for 100% participation by all teams! We can do this!
The goal for the 2013 Oregon Cancer Ski Out is very simple and very easy to achieve if we all do our part! Imagine if 100% of 30 teams each made a goal to raise $10,000. That is $2000 per person. We would raise $300,000! This year we want to raise the bar, and we're aiming for 100% participation from all teams!
For those of you not familiar with what Bucks to Buck Cancer means, each participant is asked to individually raise funds to benefit OCSO causes. 100% of these funds will be directed to our beneficiaries.
Back again this year is a special award category for the top 10 fundraising teams and the top 10 individuals.
Skiers: To help make our 2013 goal a reality, you're encouraged to get an early start on "Bucks to Buck" donations! Contact Nancy to send donations in early, and we'll make sure you and your team get credit for them.
The Race
You will be skiing/snowboarding two runs each on two adjacent courses. Each of the two courses will be skied by a pacesetter before racing begins each day. The pacesetter establishes the course time on each course. The difference between your time and the pacesetter's time is your handicap. For you mathematicians, the formula is (skier time - pacesetter time)x100.
At the end of Day One, the handicaps of the 5 members of each team will be added together for each run, then the sums of each run will be added together to establish your total team handicap for the day.
Day Two will be conducted the same as Day One. When the handicaps from Day One are tallied, the team whose Day Two total team handicap comes closest to their Day One total team handicap wins the event.
Prizes will be awarded to the top 10 teams.
Gate Times Day One: 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Gate Times Day Two: To Be Announced
Awards
Announcement of Race winners and award presentations will be held Monday in "Vertical" at Mt. Hood Meadows, as close to 3:00 p.m. as possible.
