2017 Event a Big Success

Team Chalice Farms, right, took first-place honors on Monday.

The 29th annual Oregon Cancer Ski Out on March 12 & 13 was a great success! Participants were treated to beautiful conditions on Sunday at Mt. Hood Meadows and the costumes looked great. Thanks to everyone for helping registration to run smoothly and for the great auction items that were donated!

The evening began at Best Western Plus Hood River Inn with a lively hospitality suite before heading to a flavorful baja-themed dinner. We were excited to have longtime supporter Scott Palmer return as the emcee and we took a few moments to remember our longtime supporter and friend, Walt Stanton. Becky Olson, co-founder of Breast Friends, was the keynote speaker and she was followed by a successful oral auction led by Justin Timm. The Dave Grimshaw volunteer of the year award was presented to his sister, Linda Grimshaw, for all of her hard work. Festivities rounded out with dancing to the band 24/7 and casino games hosted by Ubetcha Entertainment.

Enduring soggy conditions, Monday saw the completion of racing with first-time team and new sponsor, Chalice Farms, taking first place. Flying Blind earned the best team costume and the Pig Hat was rightfully awarded to Ed Ariniello for the collision with his daughter, Sophia (both are healing well!).

The Cancer Ski Out raised more than $46,000 throughout the two-day event thanks in large part to the Bucks to Buck Cancer fundraising efforts by the participants and generous donors. Great job to team Insanity for earning top spot for fundraising!

Thank you to all the participants, coaches, volunteers, and sponsors for your involvement. Every piece contributes to the continued success of the Cancer Ski Out and the fight against cancer!

Next year we will be celebrating our 30th Anniversary. Mark your calendars for March 11 & 12, 2018.
